Course Description

This NYC DOB Approved course is offered as an instructor led in-person and actively proctored training and is a renewal requirement for both the Lift Director and Master Rigger Licenses. The training covers the lift direction provisions of Chapter 33 of the New York city building code and related rules and regulations, as well as relevant safety precautions. Additional topics include mobile cranes, tower cranes, and derricks, including but not limited to roles and responsibilities of site personnel, operational planning, weather warnings, conducting on- site meetings, and log and reporting requirements.

As of January 1, 2025, under 1 RCNY §104-06, Master Rigger licensees must complete this course and the 16 HR Rigging Supervisor Refresher course for a total of 24 training hours. All training must transpire during the one (1) year immediately prior to submitting a license renewal application.

The course fee does not include the cost of issuing the SST card or Worker Wallet Card as applicable.

CEU Requirements

  1. 100% attendance for the course
  2. Active participation in all class exercises (determined by course instructor)
  3. Completion of required post-quiz assessment
  4. As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score on required end-of-course examination
  5. Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)

 Prerequisites

Individuals attending this course must hold an expired or soon to be expired Lift Director or Master Rigger license. Students attending this course must present their original license (s).

Students need to be able to verbally communicate with an instructor in the primary language of the training and virtual attendees must have access to an internet connection, a computer, or a tablet with a web camera, microphone, and download the WebEx app.

Training Requirements

During the one (1) year immediately prior to renewal, the licensee must have successfully completed a Department-approved course that is at least eight (8) hours in length covering the lift direction provisions of Chapter 33 of the New York city building code and related rules and regulations, as well as relevant safety precautions

Under 1 RCNY §104-06, during the one (1) year immediately prior to renewal as a Lift Director, the applicant must successfully complete a lift director refresher course of at least 8 hours in length covering the lift direction provisions of Chapter 33 of the New York city building code and related rules and regulations, as well as relevant safety precautions

Also under 1 RCNY §104-06, as of January 1, 2025, this training and the 16 HR Rigging Supervisor Refresher course are required perquisites to renew the Master Riggers license.  All training must be completed in the one (1) year immediately prior to the renewal.

100% attendance and active participation in all learning activities including class exercises and the final exam is required. Students must earn a score of 70% or higher on the written, multiple- choice examination to be eligible for a certificate of completion. The training must be completed within the one (1) year period prior to renewal for both the Lift Director and Master Rigger licenses.

Make-up time is not typically permitted with this training. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule for the next available program and attend the full training course.
