Don’t be fooled by misinformation listed on other big online course provider websites.
NYC DOB recently emailed Approved Course providers to reinforce that self-paced, on-demand training courses are not acceptable for use for site safety and construction super license renewals. Some training providers are still offering on-demand courses that can’t be used for license refreshers.
To curtail misuse of the on-demand course, DOB released a new course code, SAF-203, for the on-demand version of the 8 HR Site Safety Training course. SAF-202, the original course code, will remain active and can be applied to both license and SST card issuances (including new, upgrades, and renewals).
Why is this change important?
DOB rules are very clear. Online courses that you take on your schedule do not qualify for license refreshers. In order to refresh your license, you must take a course that’s taught by a live instructor and conducted on a specific schedule. At GBTS, we call that sort of course “Virtual” so that it’s not confused with a purely on-demand course. Virtual courses are just like taking a course in person, except you do it from your choice of location.
GBTS offers both course options. Choose the one that makes sense to you!
