The Ultimate OSHA Cheat Sheet

This isn’t a ‘cheat sheet’

We’ll be honest: we lied to you.

As one of the leading safety training providers, we’d never let you take an ‘easy’ out. Hard work requires ‘hard work’. So instead, we’re going to give you a crash course, ie. our personal cheat sheet, on OSHA cards.

What is OSHA

Ok, so first off, what is OSHA? OSHA stands for the “Occupational Safety and Health Administration”, an agency of the United States Department of Labor signed into law on December 29, 1970 by President  Richard Nixon. What OSHA’s primary goal since it’s creation is to ensure and enforce protective workplace safety and health standards while also issuing and fines to projects, owners and developers for violating those standards.

OSHA Regulations and Your Jobsite

OSHA’s overall mission is to provide a safe workplace that is free from recognized hazards that are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees. By complying with the safety and health regulations promulgated by OSHA, employers are ensuring that the mission is being upheld.

What can you do to make sure that you’re in compliance? Keep a log and summary of all workplace injuries and illnesses, also keep records of safety training sessions and certifications that you, your supervisors and your workers have taken.

Why OSHA Training is Necessary

In New York City, pursuant to Local Law 196, most workers and supervisors will need to take at least a minimum amount of OSHA training hours (10 for workers and 30 for supervisors). To find out more, click here!

OSHA training can help build the foundation of a safe working environment for both workers and employers. By receiving your OSHA training you can help yourself and your workers stay safe and extend a healthful work environment. Especially since taking the easy way out can lead to even dire consequences.

The Dangers of Fake OSHA Cards

As an employer, not only does having a fake or unverified OSHA card-carrying worker get them kicked off the job site, you can lose your ability to work completely for other projects. Employees won’t have it any easier. You can get arrested for committing fraud, and not be eligible for work in the city since you’re a risk to coworkers. Lastly, rocking that fake card can have employers fined up to thousands of dollars for employing untrained workers.

So, why risk it?
