Safety Training Courses

The Confined Space Operations course is designed to educate students in the safe practices and responsibilities of the entrant, entry attendant, and supervisor when working with confined spaces. Key topics include general requirements of the OSHA standard, employer’s responsibility to individuals working in confined spaces, confined space recognition, requirements for entry, atmospheric hazards, physical hazards, personal protective equipment, and regulatory requirements.

The Confined Space Awareness course is designed to educate students’ working in the vicinity of confined spaces on key safety hazards, methods of controlling those hazards, elements of confined space programs, emergency procedures and training requirements. Students will become familiar with examples of confined spaces and associated hazards found in both general industry and construction worksites.

Please note that this training does not meet OSHA’s site-specific confined space training requirements. It is intended to serve only as a basic awareness course for students that may work around confined spaces and is NOT intended for those workers who are required to enter a confined space.

The Safety T-Strap Training is a 2 hour course for workers who use Safety T-Straps at the work site.

Regulations discussed in this course are ASME B30.5, ASME B30.9, and OSHA 29 CFR Part 1926.1400. This course includes topics such as basic rigging principles, rigging component identification, mathematical calculations, sling selection, rigging inspection, wire rope and chain design, and proper rigging techniques.

This safety training includes a combination of formal classroom instruction, demonstrations and practical exercises performed by the trainee, and an evaluation of the operator’s performance.

Individuals who complete this course are eligible to receive a 10% reduction in the base rate of your auto and motorcycle insurance premiums and can be eligible to reduce as many as 4 points off your New York driver’s license.

The DMV computer system automatically applies the point reduction when your course completion is added to your record. If your record shows any convictions and the points they carry, a notation will be added that you completed the course and a reduction of up to 4 points has been applied.

This course includes applicable New York state traffic laws that help drivers use safer driving techniques to avoid and prevent accidents.

This general introductory course is the initial training required for individuals seeking to obtain a Security Guard Registration Card, and ultimately become employed as security guards in NY State. This 8-hour course provides students with a general overview of the duties and responsibilities of a security guard.
