Introduced in April 2023, this Cranes and Derricks course replaces NYC DOB’s 30-Hour Special Rigger under the 2022 Codes and is now one of two required training courses for Special Rigger License applicants. During the training participants will learn the most current rigging standards and the core management skills needed to be an effective Licensed Special Rigger. The course covers in detail the New York City Construction Codes and OSHA Regulations as it pertains to rigging operations and industry best practices. Students will receive instruction on how to read scaffold design drawings, how to verify the fitness of the rigging crew, properly train workers on related hazards, and how to identify and respond to emergency situations.

This 4-hour course is intended to educate workers on how to avoid accidents and injuries while working on roofs, leading edges, ladders, or scaffolds by defining the regulations and safety rules associated with fall hazards on construction sites.

This course is an elective course that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual renewing for a Site Safety Training Card. THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

As of January 1, 2025, under 1 RCNY §104-06, Master Rigger licensees seeking to renew must complete the 16 HR Rigging Supervisor Refresher training and the 8 HR Lift Director Refresher training courses for a total of 24 training hours. This NYC DOB Approved course is offered as an instructor led in-person and actively proctored training. New as of January 1, 2025, under 1 RCNY §104-06, Special Rigger licensees seeking to renew must complete this course and the 8 HR Suspended Scaffold Supervisor Refresher course for a total of 16 training hours. The training includes a review of New York City Construction Codes and OSHA Regulations as it pertains to rigging operations and industry best practices. Topics include the inspection, maintenance, repair, use, installation, hazards associated with rigging methods, hardware, and equipment, hoisting machines with a manufacturer’s rated capacity of one ton or less, suspended scaffolds, fall protection and more. Attendees can anticipate open discussion with their colleagues to exchange their experiences and discuss the most recent changes in the rigging industry.

This training has been retired at the direction of NYC DOB. As of 2023, as mandated by 28-404.3.2 of the NYC Administrative Code, Special Rigger License candidates much complete the 16-Hour Special Rigger Course and 32-Hour Suspended Scaffold Supervisor Training Course within one year prior to application submittal. The courses can be taken in the sequence of your choosing.

The 8-Hour Site Safety Training course is a refresher to the 40-Hour Site Safety Course, which is a comprehensive presentation of Chapter 33 and the Rules of the City of New York that pertains to public protection. During the training, students will review the hazards of working in the New York City construction environment and the specific methods and work practices that are necessary on an urban construction site.

This course is a comprehensive review of Chapter 33 and the Rules of the City of New York that pertain to public protection. The purpose of the course is to initiate prospective candidates with safe job practices in New York City and to prepare those prospective candidates to take the Site Safety Manager’s test.

During the course, students will be introduced to the hazards of working the New York City construction environment and the specific methods and work practices that are necessary on an urban construction site.

This training can be delivered live, in-person or virtually using WebEx. All virtual trainings are presented live by a technical instructor in an interactive, actively proctored environment.

The instructor will assess students to determine if each student is capable of applying rope knots, terminating wire rope, building a block and tackle system, and operating scaffold hoist motor and each student will independently complete a multiple-choice final exam.
